Round two of the west coast supercross series blasted off Saturday night in the cold desert of Phoenix, Arizona. The track was a mix of slick, hard pack soil and soft, rutty turns. It made for a very technical course and the Troy Lee Designs riders were up for the challenge.

The start of the supercross series is always chaotic and stressful. Months of hard work boil down to a tangible moment when the gate drops and it’s difficult to ignore the pressure and stay focused on the task at hand. Most riders struggled with the opening round jitters and the TLD camp wasn’t immune. Team leader, Cole Seely, couldn’t find his rhythm all day during practice and his teammates Jessy Nelson and Christian Craig had some of the same issues. Fortunately, when the gate dropped and it counted they performed.

The Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team finally got back to racing this weekend in Seattle, Washington. It had been weeks since the west region riders lined up together, and as the battle for the championship winds down Cole Seely finds himself in the points chase with only two rounds to go.

Seely Sloshes Through Daytona Mud Hole

Cole Seely got a fantastic opportunity to work on his mud riding skills last Saturday night in Daytona Beach, Florida. The California rider looked quite good, despite being from one of the driest climates in the country. The rain came down hard throughout the day and by the time the gate dropped on the first practice it looked like the riders might need to mount a snorkel on their helmets.

Torrance, CA: Team Honda Muscle Milk announces today that current Troy Lee Designs/Lucas Oil/Honda Supercross Lites rider Cole Seely will fill in for injured Team Honda Muscle Milk rider Trey Canard at select Supercross races beginning with the coming Atlanta round next weekend.

Seely Puts TLD / Lucas Oil / Honda on Anaheim Podium

The 2012 supercross series moved south to Angel Stadium in Anaheim for the second time this year and it turned out to be a good night for the Troy Lee Designs / Lucas Oil / Honda team. Cole Seely, who led the main early on, rebounded from a small crash to finish second. His teammate, Travis Baker, had a crash of his own in the main event and finished 9th. Despite the falls both riders were moving forward and happy with their efforts on the bike.

Round four of the west coast supercross series kicked off in Oakland last Saturday night. Cole Seely and Travis Baker were both looking for rebound races after a troublesome round three. And they both got some vindication.

Seely and Baker Stay Consistent in Phoenix

Coming into round two with the points lead and the red plate, Cole Seely and the TLD team were looking for another win in Arizona. But in a class that is stacked with talent, sometimes you have to take what you can get. While both riders were kept off the podium, they were both consistent and earned solid points heading back to Los Angeles next week.

TLD / Lucas Oil / Honda's Cole Seely Romps to A1 Victory

Cole Seely wasn't on many people's radar coming into last weekend's opening round of the AMA supercross series. Many forgot that he won two rounds last year and had scored a second place finish in 2010. His progression has been steady so it shouldn't have come as a shock when Seely blew past most of the class favorites in the opening laps of Saturday night's main event and opened up a comfortable lead en route to the checkers. Those who doubted he was a player in this title chase are now frantically reworking their math as the lanky kid from LA heads to Phoenix with the points lead.
